On the afternoon of November 29, the School of Foreign Languages Associate Professor Yao Qin delivered in A205 a Five Pines Forum lecture titled “Cambridge University—The pursuit of poetry and prospects”. This Five Pines Forum was jointly held by Jiangsu University Publicity Department and the School of Foreign Languages.
Ms. Yao shared her experience at Cambridge University as a visiting scholar with more than 100 faculties and students, outlining in both words and pictures the history, people, environment, colleges, length of schooling, courses, extracurricular activities, libraries, tutorial system, examination, degree-awarding system, etc. of this internationally prestigious university. She encouraged the students present at the lecture to work harder by quoting Gao Xiaosong, who observes that “beyond the pots and pans, life should embrace poetry and prospects”. She expected them not to be satiated by what they have had, but to pursue a greater objective under the guidance of the great masters in a celebrated university like Cambridge and exert their greatest efforts to realize the Chinese dream!
