On the morning of November 21, Xin Ying of CET Department I, the School of Foreign Languages gave a demo lesson of “IELTS English Listening & Speaking” in Room 209 of the Sanshan Building to the Advanced Class of Grade 2016. A number of faculty members of the School at the lecture participated in the heated after-class discussion.
Xin Ying started her lecture with the playing of an IELTS video clip, by which to introduce the format and requirements of the oral test that constitutes the second section of the IELTS. Through analyzing typical test questions she guided students to grasp the key points and difficulties, asking them to sum up their group discussions and submit their proposals for improvement by sampling the answered questions. Towards the end of her lecture, Ms. Xin got her students to do oral practice meant to assess the oral output of students based on their previous studies. The fully prepared lesson by Xin is delivered step by step, with key points highlighted and difficulties clearly expounded. The constant teacher-students interaction guaranteed a good performance of the lecture.
“IELTS English Listening & Speaking” adopts the fast training approach of advanced English to enhance students’ practical listening and speaking skills in a short period of time. Through learning this course, JSU students will get to know better about the English proficiency test from a global perspective and get better prepared for their future study and employment in a foreign state.
