On November 7, a delegation of 3 including Deputy Dean Zhu Yan from College Foreign Language Teaching Department, Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a delegation of 2 including Deputy Dean Lin Xiaoqin from the School of Foreign Languages, Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade visited the School of Foreign Languages for an investigation into the advanced working experiences of the Clinic for Foreign Language Learning. School of Foreign Languages Deputy Dean Wu Peng, together with Clinic for Foreign Language Learning Deputy Directors Lu Mulin and Ju Xiaoli, met with the visitors.
At the meeting, Wu Peng gave an overall introduction to the setup background, basic operation model, and remarkable achievements of the Clinic for Foreign Language Learning, highlighting the persistent efforts that have been made by the Clinic in the individualized coaching of students, the professional growth of the faculty, the construction of College English courses, etc. Later, Lu Mulin and Ju Xiaoli respectively answered the specific questions raised by the visitors concerning online appointment, the guidance on learning psychology, faculty training, the guidance on important academic contests, etc. Visitors from the two universities sang a high praise for the innovative work philosophy and the great achievements of the Clinic for Foreign Language Learning. Meanwhile, they admired at the gratuitous but arduous work that has been done by the Clinic faculty.
The Clinic for Foreign Language Learning (CFLL) set up in November 2016 is an innovative educational institution that combines foreign language capability assessment, personalized guidance of foreign language learning and frontier studies on foreign language learning. The long-term objective of the CFLL is to provide foreign language learning consultation and tracking services to all students and teachers of the University and in the meanwhile carry out the practical problem-oriented English teaching research by exerting the effort of all Chinese and foreign teachers of English who take the lead in both teaching and research. Not only does the Clinic draw on the sophisticated experiences of the language center in a worldly renowned university, but it also focuses on the particular difficulties of the English learners in China, especially those of Jiangsu University. The successful operation of the Clinic for Foreign Language Learning has been widely reported by China Education Daily, Sina, China Educational Information Platform, etc. Since its inception, the CFLL has received visitors from more than ten colleges and universities.
