From November 2 to 3, 2019 C-E & E-C Interpreting and Translation Contests for Jiangsu Postgraduates were held in Lotus Pond Campus of Yangzhou University. Nearly 100 doctoral and master’s degree candidates from more than 20 colleges and universities in Jiangsu province participated in the contests. Jiangsu University postgraduates Zhou Tianbao and Gu Zhanghong emerged out of the fierce interpreting competition and won a second prize and an excellent prize respectively. Jiangsu University postgraduates Hua Zhenghao and Ling Yunxiao each won a third prize at the translation contest. These are the results JSU students have won at these contests.
The interpreting and translation contests are organized by the Steering Committee for the Education of Postgraduates Majoring in Chinese and Foreign Literatures, commissioned by Jiangsu Academic Degree Committee and Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. They belong to the postgraduate scientific research innovation activities organized for doctoral and master’s degree candidates majoring in foreign languages and literatures in postgraduate recruitment institutions of Jiangsu province.
The School of Foreign Languages has made efforts to integrate the academic contests into the educational reform on Foreign Languages and Literatures postgraduates and the cultivation of foreign language talents, with the purpose of further clarifying its educational orientation and talent cultivation objective. The 4 contestants to participate in the final contests at Yangzhou have been chosen through rigorous tryouts on campus. At the finals, JSU postgraduates fully demonstrated their outstanding English skills and interpreting and translation capabilities, got a good opportunity to interact with postgraduates from other colleges and universities majoring in Foreign Languages and Literatures, ignited their unceasing ambition for the promotion of their foreign language learning and comprehensive qualities, and thus enhanced the cultivation quality of the postgraduates of the School of Foreign Languages.
