On the afternoon of June 5, the European Languages Department, School of Foreign Languages held in Z203 of the Main Building the “Seminar on Second Language (German) Teaching of China and America”. Ms. Peng Ting was the keynote speaker. The whole faculty of the European Languages Department attended the seminar.
Ms. Peng Ting has just returned from America, where she stayed for a year as a visiting scholar and taught German as a second language in the University of Kansas. She first introduced the second language teaching model, curriculum setting, and assessment criteria of the University of Kansas. Then she continued to share her teaching experiences in the United States with her colleagues at the meeting. Finally, the faculty members of the European Languages Department each voiced their opinions on the disparity in second language instruction between Chinese and American colleges and universities and on the application and development trend of “Internet + Education” model.
The seminar broadened the view of the faculty of European languages on second language instruction, prompting them to reflect on the curriculum setting, teaching practice and assessment model from multiple perspectives and dimensions and promoting the development of the second language instruction in Jiangsu University.
