On the morning of January 10, the School of Foreign Languages held an Inner-party Democratic Consultation for all middle-level Party cadres of the School. Non-party-member leading cadres of the School attended the meeting as nonvoting delegates. The consultation meeting was chaired by Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong.
At the meeting Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong first introduced the preparatory work that had been done for the meeting. The leading group of the School had laid an ideological foundation for the meeting before it was held by arranging for leading Party cadres in a variety of ways to conscientiously study and understand the gist of the 19th CPC Congress, to earnestly convey the gist of the University’s “Notice on holding the 2017 democratic consultation for director- and above-level leading Party cadres”, and to hold talks with teachers, non-Communist party members, students and so on and listen to their opinions on a wide scale.
Comrade Lu Yunsong first made the disciplinary checks and analyzed the reasons for the unsolved problems. Then each member of the leading group of the School made the disciplinary checks of his or her won and analyzed the reasons for his or her own problems that preceded the activity of criticism and self-criticism. The nonvoting delegates at the meeting also carried out the activity of criticism on the work of the leading Party cadres of the School. The participants compared their present work with the School initiative and mission, upheld the principle of linking theory with practice, oriented themselves towards the problems, highlighted their problem consciousness, made the comparisons and contrasts by laying bare their own deeds, thoughts and work, nailed down the protruding problems, analyzed these problems against the fundamental principles of the Party in concrete contexts, carried out the work of criticism and self-criticism in a healthy manner, and finally realized the purpose of sticking to the truth, correcting the mistakes, improving the solidarity and bracing up their spirits.
All participants agreed that the leading group and its members should summon up the courage to implement the spirit of rectification, the courage for self-revolution, and the courage to carry out active and healthy criticism and self-criticism. Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong pointed out in his concluding remarks that in the future, he must earnestly study and understand Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, firmly maintain the authority of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core and and unified leadership of the Party, and fully implement the decisions of the 19th CPC National Congress of the Party. We must carry out an in-depth investigation into the ideas of teachers and students, listen to their opinions, be problem-oriented, encourage teachers and students to offer their advice to the School, focus on the strategic theme of building Jiangsu University into a high-level university of the world, strive for the rapid progress of our work, and lead the faculty members and students of the School of Foreign Languages to work concertedly and painstakingly for the sound and rapid development of the various subjects of the Foreign Language School.
