Days ago, a special issue (No. 3, 2017) of the ESCI-indexed Journal of Argumentation in Context titled “Argumentative Discourse in Contemporary China: A pragma-dialectical perspective” edited by Dean Assistant of the School of Foreign Languages & Chinese Secretary General of the ILIIAS was officially published by John Benjamins.
This issue collected 4 original research papers and 4 book reviews, which combine to display the latest achievements that have been made in Chinese pragma-dialectical studies and especially the breakthroughs in this particular field in China. The issue covers the Chinese pragma-dialectical discourses in fields like social politics, people’s livelihood and business. In the meanwhile it explores the future development of Chinese pragma-dialectics. The 8 contributors to the issue are all researchers, full-time or part-time, of the ILIAS at Jiangsu University, thus manifesting the leading role played by the ILIAS in the field of pragma-dialectics.
Journal of Argumentation in Context published by John Benjamins, a worldly renowned press in humanities and social sciences, is one of the most important periodicals devoted to pragma-dialectical studies. The journal publishes three issues each year, one of which collects solicited contributions edited by a specially appointed specialist. Associate Professor Wu Peng is the first Chinese as well as Asian scholar that has served as editor-in-chief of this special issue since the inception of this journal. The publication of this special issue that collectively displays the achievements of the Chinese scholars in this field has the significance of a milestone type.
