Days ago, a special issue (Vol. 3, 2016) of Sinologia Hispanica titled Argumentative Discourse in Contemporary China was officially published under the joint general editorship of Dr. Wu Peng, dean of CET Department I, the School of Foreign Languages & Chinese secretary general of the ILIAS and Professor Juan Jose Lanero at the University of Leon of Spain. The 8 research papers included in this special issue are mainly devoted to demonstrating the latest achievements made by scholars in the argumentative discourse in contemporary China, highlighting the great explanatory power of Pragma-Dialectics to the phenomena of Chinese argumentative discourse. The contents of this special issue cover fields of argumentative discourse in contemporary China such as social politics, trade, diplomacy, and people’s livelihood. On one hand, the research papers published in this issue shed light on the contemporary Chinese society; on the other hand, they allow us to perceive the diffusion and influence of argumentative discourse at all levels of social life in China. It is worth noting that most contributors to this special issue are researchers at the ILIAS housed by the School of Foreign Languages, Jiangsu University, manifesting the front-runner status of the ILIAS scholars in the Chinese circles of argumentation. In addition, Dr. Wu Peng became a member of the editorial board of Sinologia Hispanica just on the occasion when the special issue was published.
